After the devastation of Florence, Good Samaritans (Disaster Relief Teams) came from all over the US to hold up our arms as we rebuild our lovely towns. ![]() We have designed a T-shirt with a picture of “The Good Samaritan” on the back (Picture below), with the words “BE A GOOD SAMARITAN” underneath. They can be pre-ordered by texting Grace Smit at 252-259-4848. Indicate size (S-M-L-XL and XXL). The price is $25 (plus $5 for shipping, if required). Grace will contact you for further instructions. All proceeds will be donated to Disaster Relief Teams. ![]() New Bern Art Exhibit was graciously spared of any damage. All Modderman’s paintings survived unscathed. In July, Egbert created in our store his latest painting, “Simon of Cyrene” (picture below) with a New Bern model. It has had a great response from our community. Even the Museum of the Bible (MotB) in Washington DC showed interest. In fact, the MotB will display this painting along with “The Good Samaritan” and “Ruth and Boaz” for their one year anniversary exhibit starting November 17th. At a later date a solo exhibit is planned, showing all our Modderman paintings as well as some of the Modderman originals from European collectors. This Friday, Oct. 5th is ArtWalk in New Bern (from 5-8PM). After the Mumfest (Oct 13th and 14th), the paintings will be crated and shipped to Washington DC.
We encourage you to enjoy the restaurants and businesses and other art galleries that have reopened since Florence! We look forward to seeing you during this ArtWalk and the Mumfest. With kind regards, Ger and Grace Smit New Bern Art Exhibit, 309 Middle Street, New Bern
